Altech Diagnostics DBA, has been an established Medicare and Insurance Provider to the Florida Community for the past 15 years. In those years of practice, we have seen many changes, regarding reimbursements, equipment used, and changes in policies regarding Independent Testing Facilities. Because of these changes, Altech has been able to adapt and flow with the change. Recently, CMS mandated changes regarding procedures in testing, with regard to equipment drop off and pick up, most notably, OXIMETRY TESTING(Oxygen Saturation evaluations), see CMS UPDATE. PULMONARY FUNCTION TESTING, is also available and used quite often in addition to oximetry evaluations.

With the anticipation of this change, some manufacturers brought change, such as Power Ox System, Web Ox Systems – Palm Pilot Devices, and then of course other equipment for this type of testing, QRS, AIRSEP, OHMEDA, NONIN, RESPIRONICS, and the list goes on. Many of these names are very well known to the Respiratory industry, and by all rights, excellent equipment. Each brings it’s own interesting mode of testing.

However, Altech Dba has been searching for a piece of equipment that could adapt to the changes occurring, but yet also allow the patient to interact and take charge of some of their care. We believe, in our searching , the SPIROTEL unit can provide the interactivity that can allow the patient to transmit data relatively easy, and at the same time alleviate many companies from having to expend energy in picking up units that might not have valid data upon return.

Altech DBA will not only use this piece of equipment for it’s testing, but will also work with ALTECH DIAGNOSTICS, Inc. in providing the health care community with the same advantageous mode of testing in the patient’s home today.

We will continue, however, to provide services as accustomed to, by the medical community, and meet needs, but we would now STRONGLY suggest that all concerned, start to make plans to move into the future with Telemedicine, due to continued decreases in reimbursements and many changes on the horizon.
